Jesus of Nazareth was the most scientific man that ever trod the globe.
Christian Science was discovered and founded by Mary Baker Eddy “to commemorate the word and works of our Master, which should reinstate primitive Christianity and its lost element of healing.” (Church Manual, p. 17)
The import of that mission statement is that the Christian healing Jesus demonstrated centuries ago is possible, even today.
Mary Baker Eddy was a devout Bible student who was convinced that Jesus was speaking for all time when he said "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do;" (John 14:12)
A healing she experienced while reading her Bible caused her to want to understand what was behind the healing. This led to her discovery of divine laws underlying Jesus' healings, and she documented her discovery in her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures.
